Star Wallin specializes in supporting mission-driven organizations make change that matters. She has worked with organizations spanning the public, social and private sectors in areas including strategy, organizational design, governance, performance management, change management, and business process improvement.
Star is passionate about education. As both a middle school science teacher and McKinsey engagement manager, she has worked extensively across the Pre-K-through-career continuum. She has counseled leaders of reform-oriented urban school districts, high performing charter management organizations, global philanthropic foundations, and major cultural institutions on efforts to dramatically improve educational quality. While at McKinsey, Star served as the chief of staff to the head of the Firm’s Social Sector Office and managed projects for clients ranging from local charter school networks to large federal agencies.
Star has a M.A. in Teaching from American University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in sociology and public policy. Star is a Harry S. Truman Scholar, a Morris K. Udall Scholar, and a Vanderbilt Ingram Scholar.
